His father, David Kail, b1716, Rheinland/Pfalz, Germany, d25 Apr 1786, Augusta Co VA [His name was spelled four different ways on the passenger list of the "Loyal Judith", and was pronounced "Keel". "Cale" or "Cales" is probably a corruption of this.

David Kail arrived in Philadelphia in 1742 on the "Loyal Judith". Some time
after 1756 he settled in Augusta Co VA, abt 11 miles south of present city of Staunton. Many of his descendants moved to Monroe and Greenbrier Counties, now located in West Virginia.
